According to this Mitt Romney just lost the election. It seems he keeps losing it, since I'm sure I read much the same following his remarks on the White House's reaction to the attack on the US embassy in Libya. How many times can he lose just one election? Not that I mind the repeat performances. In any event, Ezra Klein analyses the assumptions underlying Romney's latest electioneering gaffe, and what's wrong with them. It's well worth reading.
This column by David Brooks also contains a pertinent argument: 'Middle-class parents don't deprive their children of benefits so they can learn to struggle on their own. They shower benefits on their children to give them more opportunities...' You'd think it would have been noticed before.
