In a post on this topic on Friday, I said (in the final paragraph) that Bob Dylan had let himself and others down by 'agreeing to let the Chinese authorities dictate which songs he may sing'. The criticism was based on what I'd read in the press, to the effect that this is what Dylan had done. In email correspondence since, I have received links to items which suggest (a) that this claim, so widely aired in the media, is more speculation than fact, and (b) that Dylan may have used his gigs in China to make a political point in his own style anyway. Naturally, if the information my criticism was based on is inaccurate, then the criticism itself is unwarranted, and I withdraw it. (Thanks: MG / SC.)
