That's what day it is today, apparently. If only I could afford to buy Israel. I'll have to think of other ways of helping.
In googling for that link, I also found this one: Buy Nothing Day - in protest against consumerism. This I can afford. It's a bit of a problem, though, if you've got no food in the house and aren't entirely self-sufficient in a food-production way. I suppose you could borrow or beg some food from friends and neighbours. But doesn't that buy (!) in to future consumerism? In any case, I don't think buying nothing goes far enough, myself. There should be a Throw and/or Give Something Away Day, in repentance against your many earlier purchases.
