Russian scenes

There are some marvellous colour images here, taken in Russia in the period between 1909 and 1912. Number 16 is 'A group of Jewish children with a teacher in Samarkand'; 17 is 'A switch operator... on the Trans-Siberian Railroad'; 23 is 'Prokudin-Gorskii rides along on a handcar outside Petrozavodsk on the Murmansk railway...' Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii was the photogrpaher. (Via Tim.)
