I don't like to knock other people's pleasures and interests when I haven't, myself, ever taken an interest in them. So I'm not endorsing the contents of this column by Nicholas Lezard in linking to it. I only use it as a peg on which to hang my own bafflement about Twitter. To be more precise about this, let me pose two questions. (1) Why would I want to record my daily activities for other people to follow? (2) Why would I want to follow the detailed doings of anyone else over the course of a day, and another day, and another day?
Let's make that three questions. (3) Who has time for it? It's hard enough to fit everything else in that I want to do. These are not rhetorical questions. I'm interested in the answers to them.
