Apologies for the blogging silence over the weekend. It were the cricket. Now that I'm back offering something to read again, here's a pretty pointless item about reading. This guy, David L. Ulin, is a lifelong reader. Books have been so important to him. But now he's having trouble sitting down to read. Why's that? It's our 'over-networked culture'. It's blogging and tweeting; it's need for speed and the 'encroachment of the buzz'.
Yes, well. You get a book. You switch off various things. If it helps, you close the door. Then you sit down and read. In due course, our man tells us, he does get there. But my, the difficulty. (Via.)
