First the book was in school libraries in Miami-Dade County. Then the copies of it were all pulled by the School Board on account of it was inaccurate in its depiction of life in Cuba. Then a US District Judge ruled that the School Board's opposition to the book was political. And now the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta has sided with School Board's view that Vamos a Cuba is 'inappropriate'.
I share the opinion expressed here: 'The Supreme Court should reverse this disturbing ruling.' The School Board has a better course of action and a perfectly obvious one. As that US District Judge said in ruling against it, the School Board 'should add books of different perspectives to its collections instead of removing the offending titles'.
