Via Mick I see that a committee of the UN General Assembly has passed a resolution, albeit with a smaller majority than last time, targeting the 'defamation of religions'. The resolution is sponsored by the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (with the support of Venezuela and Belarus). It expresses concern that 'Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism'. The sponsoring nations of the OIC appear not to have given any thought to the danger that, as a result of this resolution, they might come to be associated - rightly - with putting a low value on freedom of speech and opinion.
