I don't like to be too picky, but sometimes I just can't help it. This is from an editorial in the LA Times:
It [the Bush administration] invaded Afghanistan for good reason, then allowed that conflict to spiral downward. It invaded Iraq under false pretenses and succeeded in antagonizing the Muslim world and clear-thinking people of all faiths.
First, I want to point out that people can be antagonized even when you act with what you believe to be good reason. It should not have escaped the notice of the LA Times that many in the Muslim world were also antagonized by the invasion of Afghanistan (the invasion it says was 'for good reason'). Second, I'm sure there were clear-thinking people of all faiths antagonized by the invasion of Iraq; however, I do hope the implication is not intended here that there were no clear-thinking people (of all faiths and, indeed, none) who were not antagonized by the invasion of Iraq but supported it - many of them for reasons having to do with the nature of Saddam Hussein's regime. To overlook these two points would be a sign of some not very clear thinking.
