Tourism exhibitors at a fair in Zimbabwe confess to facing 'difficulties... selling the country as a destination'. You can see why they would. One exhibitor said:
[I]t's been difficult convincing buyers, particularly in the West, that it's a safe destination.I'd reckon safety wasn't the only consideration. Holidaying amidst government-created starvation might not be of great appeal to some would-be tourists.
By the way, were you aware there'd been a 'barbaric onslaught on Zimbabwe in the past six weeks'? According to Karikoga Kaseke, chief executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, there has been. It's a barbaric onslaught 'by some countries in the west led by the United Kingdom'. (Thanks: AC.)
