If mothers ruled the world, there would be no more god-damned wars. That's Sally Field (responsible for the utterly insufferable Nora Walker in Brothers and Sisters). Leave aside the dubious and self-satisfied conceit that women are free of those flaws of human nature by which men are plainly afflicted. But one must infer from Field's words that in a world ruled by mothers no war could be justified: not the war to defeat Nazism, not a war to stop a genocide, no war, anywhere, of national liberation or to throw off an oppressor. What a terrible calumny against women. Naturally, this does not mean it shouldn't have been broadcast. (Via Memeorandum.)
