Two hundred Irish soldiers are to be part of the new UN multi-national force to be sent to Darfur. But a spokesman for the Irish NGO Goal adds a further reason for pessimism about its chances of success: John O'Shea, Goal's director, says the force should be made up of troops from Western nations because troops from the African Union have shown themselves to be ineffective. He also says:
