Some normblog readers may just be aware that I've been running this Beatles poll, and you may now be waiting anxiously for the results. Dispel all anxiety, loyal friends. Be assured that the normblog Polling Organization will soon move into action to collate the results. Knowing there would be a short period for this process to take place, I have allowed myself a few extra days for my own entry. I have now succeeded in cutting my long list down to a shortlist, and as you'll be aching to know what this is, I'll tell you. It is:
Eleanor RigbyThe eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that one of the songs on my shortlist wasn't on the long list. Please don't let it concern you. When you reach a certain age you get to understand that life is full of such oddities. As I have already issued two last calls for this poll, I would be too embarrassed to sound another one here. I will merely say, therefore, that I am still waiting for the entry promised from the threesome constituting 'the Russell group', and could have no objection to receiving further entries while the votes are being processed. If I were to add that the total entry is now not far off 150, you will be able to deduce that further entries, though they would be, strictly, late, would appear most fitting nonetheless and a sign of admirable virtue in those good enough to send them.
