This evening I'd like to talk about the concept of political boycotts, named after a curmudgeonly Yorkshireman who stuck to his principles and steadfastly refused to play entertaining cricket. The political boycott has been very much back in the news. Yes, it would seem that the BBC are not the only organization currently under fire for being less than impartial. In the last few weeks the union of colleges and universities, which represents the nation's higher education teachers and professors, have been mooting the idea of an academic boycott of Israel.
