A bad appointment

The Head Heeb on the inclusion of Avigdor Lieberman in the Israeli government:

[T]his can't be written off as "just politics," and it can't be dismissed as a budget-saving measure or a broadening of the coalition to include the Russian sector. Lieberman is different, and his appointment can't be watered down with mitigating factors or excused by the ordinary vagaries of coalition politics.

Appointing Lieberman to a senior ministry without requiring him to abjure his racism is... a very bad message - a signal that racist views against the Arab minority are acceptable in a senior minister.
