On Friday I posted links to pieces by Eric Reeves and Catherine Jameson, both of them expressing their doubts about the Abuja peace agreement. These reports from Menawashie by Xan Rice and Lydia Polgreen would seem to support those doubts. Rice says:
[L]ittle has changed on the ground in Darfur. African Union observers continue to chronicle tales of death and destruction. And she provides details. From Polgreen's report:
"They say there is a peace, but yesterday they kill us," said Aisha Adam Moussa... "They always say peace is coming. But we are still waiting."
.....
"We cannot move even one kilometer from this village," Mr. Abakar said. "Why should it be so? We are suffering."
