This is one of my favourite days of the year. Provided you don't fritter away the extra hour, you've got a long weekend.
Here are some numbers on how much of the average (German) life is spent in different kinds of activities - 24 years and four months sleeping, five years eating and drinking, 16 months cleaning and so forth:
Six weeks are spent in foreplay, two weeks go to kissing, and - amounting to just 16 hours out of 78 years - the "good things in small packages" award goes to orgasm. All of which reminds me of the quip that the amount of time by which you extend your life through jogging, walking, working out, etc. is roughly the same as that used up in jogging, walking, working out, etc. The, er, killer answer, of course, is that if jogging, walking, working out, etc. feel good and make you feel better than you otherwise would, it's time well spent. In contrast, Germans spend an average of two weeks of their lives in prayer. The study didn't note just how much of that time is spent praying for sex.
