I missed this when it first appeared - a piece by Julie Burchill on the proposal from Iqbal Sacranie et al to get rid of Holocaust Memorial Day. She doesn't speak gently, and some of it might shock you. She refers to Tony Blair as 'our prime minister and great war leader'. She says:
[The] insistence on equating the deaths of Muslims in territorial conflicts, which might easily be resolved through negotiation, with that of Jews in the Holocaust[,] the racial identity of the victims being the very cause of the slaughter[,] reveals a mentality which is either sub-cretinous or really quite evil.I'd say 'easily' there is a bit of a stretch, and 'sub-cretinous' a shade overstated, but otherwise she's on to something.
