Here's a joke of a grimmer sort. The United Nations has invited Robert Mugabe to address a hunger conference in Rome - 'to mark the 60th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organisation':
The FAO will use the occasion to draw attention to the plight of the world's hungry.A report from the Zimbabwe Herald tells of the President's departure for the conference, 'accompanied by the First Lady Cde Grace Mugabe' amongst others. It contains this piece of presidential wisdom:
He [Mugabe] said everybody needs food and that it was incumbent upon the people to produce it and have the necessary resources such as land and inputs.Speaking for Amnesty International, Audrey Gaughran recently said that 'the food shortages in Zimbabwe are a result of a combination of several factors and some of those have to do with government policies'.
As a weekend game, invent your own example. Saddam Hussein to address a Human Rights Watch conference on torture? Saddam: 'Nobody enjoys it... etc.'
