While I've been here, I've been meeting with New York and out-of-town bloggers. That's been a real pleasure. It's also been very interesting discussing matters of common interest - you know, like blogs and blogging. Oh yes, and also the kinds of things we blog about, agreeing or disagreeing with one another. And, of course, everything else as well, from towels to green apples held in a certain way.
On Friday, I saw Douglas, of Last of the Famous..., and it's thanks to him that I got to see the Diane Arbus exhibition at The Met. (We also spent some good time with Angus C, a long-time reader of normblog living in New York.) Then on Saturday I crossed Delancey to visit Ronni Bennett of Time Goes By, and we - of course! - discussed ageing; but not exclusively, and in a very young-at-heart sort of way. Ronni kindly gave me an NYC-related gift. I went on from there to a few hours of intensive conversation with Chris Young, which Chris himself has saved me the trouble of describing. I might just add to his account the detail that he was unable to resist my persuasive powers and went away convinced of everything I argued to him (except for being a bit stubborn on one or two political points). Chris has a smile which he should definitely post on his blog.
And last night there was a mini-get-togther in which I got to meet, talk to and break bread with Mary Madigan, Judith Weiss, a person I cannot name and who wasn't holding a green apple in front of her face, and Jeremy Brown and Cara Remal. So good an evening was it that we nearly couldn't bring it to a conclusion - like in Bunuel's The Exterminating Angel. But we finally did and a breakdown of social order was avoided thereby. Photographs are rumoured to have been taken.
