In today's Guardian, William Shawcross wonders why more people of democratic outlook aren't more actively supporting the elections in Iraq - in view of how important they are; of how much they matter to the people of Iraq; and of what forces are opposing them. Shawcross says:
[I]t is shocking that around the world there is not wider admiration of, assistance to and moral support (and more) for the Iraqi people.That's what it is. Shocking. But you get used to most things after a while, so that it can take someone to say it again in order to remind you.
