A couple of days ago I linked to an item by David Aaronovitch featuring two poems. Any intelligent reader of the introduction to them will have known that 'Pinter's poem' wasn't actually by Harold Pinter, since Aaronovitch billed it as 'an anticipated response from playwright Harold Pinter' (my italics). In today's Groan, there is a letter from Harold Pinter putting the record straight:
In his column... David Aaronovitch quotes a poem to which he attaches my name. But I did not write this "poem". He did.I think the scare-quotes Pinter puts round the word 'poem' here are hilariously funny.
