I introduce Francis Wheen, everybody. Francis wrote that book; and he also wrote this book; and this one. For this collection of his journalism he won the George Orwell prize in 2003. So, as you can see, he's a busy man. But still he found time to put in his entry for the normblog rock n roll poll. He has given me permission to post his entry here. He was somewhat fearful about what this might do for his reputation, until I reassured him by saying that a list which overlapped with my own by as many as four votes was a list in which one should have confidence.
