A friend emails, bemoaning the effects of the teaching of cultural studies:
I am wading through finals assignments at the moment, and so many kids write - if they can at all - in this sort of media studies verbiage dotted with 'discourse' this, 'dominant ideology' that, and phrases like 'our ontological enrichment'... [T]he trouble is you know they've picked it up from their bloody lecturers. Ugh.
