Monday morning and what better way to start the week than to remind you all out there of my Bob Dylan poll. This got off to an excellent start in the first few days, but I'm bound to say it's not even down to a trickle now. It's down to a full stop. So, if you've not sent in your entry yet (and I hold a marker for some of you who promised), please send them in. To remind you:
I invite your judgement about what are the best songs Dylan has ever written - and you may interpret 'best' as you wish (your favourites, objectively, whatever) - with each entrant allowed up to, but no more than, five choices. You don't need to rank them. Closing date: Wednesday 31 March. And to encourage you, I quote from an email I had just yesterday:
I just happened across your list of best movies, and was stunned to see Casablanca as your #1.Well, I have a confession. Though I do love Casablanca, I didn't vote for it myself. But, you see - as a collectivity we appear to have got things right. So let's go for it on Bob's songs!Your poll is correct, of course, but I wouldn't have expected that result. I believe that it can be scientifically and mathematically proven that Casablanca is the best product of Hollywood and film technology of all time, and is very likely never to be topped... Congratulations to you and your readers for understanding what a masterwork Casablanca was.
