The two Chrises (Brooke and Bertram) have rather put me on the spot, blogging about the conference on Friday which was held to discuss themes related to my work - Chris Brooke interrogatively, Chris Bertram with a brief report. I hadn't thought to post about it myself, just because of feeling awkward about doing so. But prompted by what Chris and Chris say, I do want to make a couple of points.
I thoroughly enjoyed the event and thought the four papers were all excellent, leading to wide-ranging discussion throughout the day. There were even, strangely, some disagreements with my viewpoints, but I have had to learn how to navigate these over the years. Seriously... I found the day completely absorbing, and I'm sure I would have done even had I had a more distant relation than I do to the subjects that were being discussed.
Second, I want to thank Chris, Ian Kershaw, Shane O'Neill and Simon Caney for their papers; everyone else who took part in the conference; and my Political Theory colleagues whose decision it was to stage it. I am honoured and most grateful.
