Michele Hanson thinks that phoning someone is quicker than texting them. No, it isn't. At least two reasons why not: (1) the social mores of the phone call generally include an expectation that greetings and pleasantries will be exchanged, whereas in texting, people get straight to the point; (2) the text is mostly point-specific, while a phone call can range far and wide beyond whatever it was that occasioned the call.
