In August last year Peter Mair, internationally renowned political scientist and a good friend of mine, died. A conference in his honour has lately taken place at the European University Institute in Florence. There's a report on the conference here. From which:
For Professor Luciano Bardi, limiting numbers was challenging as "Peter was a person with one of the largest networks in terms of people he really cooperated with - we could have filled a stadium!"
From the same report I have also learned that the EUI's Chair in Comparative Politics has been renamed the Peter Mair Chair in Comparative Politics in recognition of Peter's 'outstanding contributions to political science'.
