However the intervention in Iraq may come to be regarded by future generations, one thing's for sure: the use and attempted legitimization of torture by the Bush administration in pursuit of the war on terror will be seen as a stain on the history of a great democracy. Another thing's for sure: the record of the Obama administration vis-à-vis this calamitous misjudgement by its predecessor has also been a disgrace.
