The Observer's editorial today:
The nation was divided. This newspaper supported a war that, with hindsight, it should have opposed.
Yes, the nation was divided; and if the Observer has now thought better of where it stood at the time, that is its right. But in the light of both the division of opinion and the change of mind so registered - and of the support Blair had from his cabinet and of the vote by parliament - what to make of the conclusion, 'He alone made the choice to take Britain to war'? Plain and utter baloney.
