I see that Oliver's weekly Pedant column is devoted to the misspelling of proper names. Without wishing to suggest that he might be running low on material, I offer two further matters for his future pedantry.
(1) The use of 'criteria' as a singular noun. Likewise 'phenomena'.
(2) Constructions of the form, 'I do not, nor have I ever, wanted to be prime minister' - in which the participle ('wanted') fits only one of the two groups of words to which it is supposedly appended.
These usages merit public obloquy.
