He has George Washington as an 'obdurate opening batsman' and Truman as a 'nagging, easily under-estimated medium-pacer'. Alex wonders if the exercise is silly. I can assure him that it is not. (What I would take issue with, though, is his uncritical view of Joseph O'Neill's Netherland.)
