When the killing starts, look away

I've read some peculiar, as well as some empty-headed, argument on the subject of terrorism, but this one's in the very front rank of op-ed pieces that must - surely - have been written for a laugh. My goodness, it's a candidate for the David Gelernter Prize.

What Gregory Rodriguez tells you here in a nutshell is: 1) that terrorists are interested in the public impact of what they do, so that by watching terrorist incidents unfold we're playing into their hands; 2) that, by memorializing the dead we are, for the same reason, playing into the terrorists' hands; 3) that, though it isn't in fact possible to forget events like 9/11 and the recent violence in Mumbai, 'from time to time, when the killers take over our image-driven world... we should also summon the strength to look away'.

Brilliant. Ignore them as they kill (although you can't really). For this he gets paid?
