The gag on Pius Ncube

Where Robert Mugabe's regime failed in trying to silence a fearless opponent, the Vatican has now succeeded. It has put a ban on the former Archbishop of Bulawayo Pius Ncube making political statements. Says Ncube:

I am very upset about it. I believe in speaking out for the people at a time of distress. This country is in the worst situation - worse than when I left.

What the Vatican says about shutting him up I have not so far been able to ascertain. But it doesn't cover itself in glory. Ncube was risking his neck to tell some pertinent truths about Zimbabwe at a time when the Guardian was still ready to carry the most pathetic of apologias for Operation Murambatsvina (clean out the filth).
