John weaving and bobbing

Nicholas Kristof praises John McCain for being 'abysmal at pandering'. Granted, he 'sometimes weaves and bobs'; still, this is preferable, says Kristof, to 'politicians who are congenital invertebrates'. Would that McCain had - by change of metaphor - stuck to his guns and not voted against the bill to prohibit the CIA from using harsh interrogation techniques.
