A prominent spokesperson for world humanism has come up with a revolutionary new proposal. In the interests of greater harmony and mutual understanding between people of different outlooks, Tony Musket - for it is he of whom I speak - has said that atheistic humanists should call their own outlook a religion and refer to humanity as 'God'.
These are, after all, only words, and the faith of us humanists in humanity is rather similar to faith in God. 'God' is a beautiful name for humanity, and churchgoers throughout the country will be as pleased as Punch.Asked why it shouldn't go the other way, with the religious from now on taking care to speak of God more matter-of-factly as 'you lot', Musket was stumped for a response.
