Sakchai update

Supporters of Sakchai Makao are now hopeful that his case will be won. Orkney and Shetland MP Alistair Carmichael hopes that it will produce changes in the Home Office Immigration and Nationality Directorate:

"Why was it that there was no examination of [Sakchai's] family circumstances before they lifted him? Why was it that they didn't know before they arrested him when he had come to the country?

"Why was it they didn't know what his immigration status was? They didn't even know that he had indefinite leave to remain. If they didn't know he had indefinite leave to remain, why is it that the immigration officers who went to arrest him were not instructed, before they did anything else, to open his passport and look at it?"
