Well, we didn't make the hundred, but we did make the nervous nineties. And as all wise people know, everything happens; so this, too, had to happen some time to one of them normblog polls. Here are the results of the favourite US state names poll. From 92 entries, this is the order in which the names of the states grab you, with numbers of votes obtained by each state given in brackets after the ranking:
01 (27) - CaliforniaLooking more closely at the numbers, perhaps the 'natural' cut for the top group should come at six with Alabama. But make of it all what you will. Two of my own choices (Wyoming and Tennessee) were in that top group, and two others (Montana and Colorado) performed creditably. Maine didn't do so well - but not as badly as poor Washington.
