Postmodernist, moi?
I'm coming at this disagreement cold, but I'd say the following is disputable:
Postmodernism is simply a theory that suggests there is more than one way of looking at the world, Professor Sankey said.If that's all postmodernism is, there'd be far more postmodernists than there are. Jiminy Cricket, I'd be one. So would John Stuart Mill (except, of course, for no longer being extant). Postmodernism not only says there's more than one way of looking at the world, it also deprives you of any reliable means of distinguishing between the better ways and the worse ones. It denies that it does this, but that's because postmodernists have the awkward habit of denying what they also affirm. And then every effort they make to back up the denial falls foul of some quite obvious objection, either given what they do affirm or just anyway. (Via Butterflies and Wheels.)"There are lots of different ways of thinking and some are more valid than others; but you can't just say that one way of thinking is the only way that you should be thinking."
