Straight talk

This BBC report on the sentencing of Mohammed Ajmal Khan seems to allow that he is a 'terror supplier' and admitted 'directing a terrorist organisation', without putting the T-word in scare-quotes, or using 'militant' or some other alternative. So why is Khan different from other terrorists (sorry, 'terrorists')? Is it because of what Mr Justice Fulford said in sentencing him?

"I am of the view that greater maximum sentences are needed to enable judges to reflect more realistically the gravity of terrorism which does not need me to say is of great public concern."

He added: "Terrorism is one of the undoubted evils of our age.

"It profoundly affects countless numbers of innocent, law-abiding people both directly and indirectly.

"The toll in lost and shattered lives..."

Steady on there. Isn't this a bit clear and straightforward? Surely, he should have introduced a 'but' somewhere? You know what, I can think of a few things his way of talking doesn't remind me of. (Hat tip: AM.)
