SOAS and the Home Office

Here's a follow-up on the SOAS story:

The Home Office is monitoring events at the School of Oriental and African Studies amid mounting student conflict over Middle East politics.

A Home Office spokeswoman said this week that its officials had been in contact with Soas over allegations by Jewish students that they were suffering anti-Semitism. She confirmed that they were "monitoring" the school's own internal investigation "to ensure it moves forward".

The report goes on to say that the current issue of the SOAS student newspaper 'advocates violent action by Palestinians'. That's one way of putting it. For another way of putting it, see the first and second sentences of the final paragraph here. (Thanks: EG.)
