Another of those comparisons:
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire on Sunday compared Israel's alleged nuclear arsenal to Hitler's gas chambers...That's very thoughtful. What I'm saying is, it made me think. Some of the thoughts I had were: that the gas chambers were used and Israel's nuclear weapons haven't been; that the Israelis are not - or at least shouldn't be - the only people 'who know what gas chambers are'; that there are other peoples who have nuclear arsenals and it isn't reported that the comparison here includes them; that the gas chambers were used against defenceless people, and that Israel is a state whose continued existence has been threatened since the day of its birth. So thanks for that, Mairead Corrigan Maguire. (Hat tip: Eve Garrard.)
.....
"When I think about nuclear weapons, I've been to Auschwitz concentration camp," Maguire said during a joint press conference with [Mordechai] Vanunu in Jerusalem."Nuclear weapons are only gas chambers perfected... and for a people who know what gas chambers are, how can you even think of building perfect gas chambers?"
