Low dressing

It's turning into Alan Carling day here at normblog. Down the road at the stoical Stoa, Chris Brooke has posted a terrific description by Alan of contrasting sartorial norms (no relation) at academic conferences in the US and the UK. Here's the UK side of it:

In the UK... it is physically impossible to dress so low as to be the worst-dressed person present at the Annual Conference of the British Sociological Association.
